KIRKUS REVIEW

Another Kit Acton-Lieutenant Gifford story (Murder Solves a Problem and utton, Button), this time starting with the murder of an alcoholic, member of a very ack Bay Boston family, the Bradford Stones. Kit, nurse's aid, pinch-hitting for the man's reluctant sister, takes in his tray -- and finds him dead. Suspects are legion; his estranged wife is a nurse; several members of his family had called; but the sister and wife are prime until successive further attacks, and one additional murder, take place at the family mansion Kit serves as reluctant spy in chief; Lieutenant Gifford puts bits of evidence together, turns out family skeletons, and pins the murders on the fanatical, defeated brother. Adroit planning -- but there's almost too much happening.
