NICKY'S FOOTBALL TEAM

A cheerful story which spots an eager audience of small boys ""too young"" to play football, this is an encouraging introduction to watching and playing the fall sport. September means football, but not only were the older boys rather snooty about Nicky's joining them for football, but Nicky did not know the first thing about it. But some lessons from a neighborhood father, buying his first football with the money he and his friends earned, learning about the game by watching the high school heroes, and at last becoming a member of a ""Midget League"" team, makes Nicky feel he is a real football player. Hero worship of a high school grid star, and the excitement of being one of the team are elements which will strike home. Top rate sports for third year readers.
