KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion volume to Soldier Sammy and not unlike in pattern of story. Jack wanted to go out in one of the big ships of which his father was captain, so he stowed away. It took courage to risk punishment or discovery, but he put duty first when he spotted a fire that must be reported at once. He learned a lesson of obedience to orders -- and got commendation at the same time for putting first things first. Good primer material for second grade.
