Grandmother Gardner's standards on Christmas trees were entirely too high for Teddy. For a while it seemed as if the family would have no tree at all. But Teddy went into the woods and cut his own so Christmas turned out pleasantly with excitement as well because Teddy encountered tree thieves and was lost on Christmas Eve.
