KIRKUS REVIEW

I happen to be an enthusiast for the books Mrs. Rawson writes. I love the way she gives her readers intimate glimpses into the life of the past and at the same time, crams her pages with facts about old furniture, old houses, old things generally. It is good Americans. It is treasure trove for the antique fans. This latest book tells how antiques came to be born. She writes of old shops -- blacksmith shops, cabinet makers' shops, tinker's shops -- the workshops of the old craftsmen.
