KIRKUS REVIEW

An informal history of our country, drawn from old letters, family documents, old novels, old newspapers, word of mouth traditions, etc. What makes our country tick? She ferrets out reasons back of imigration, from the beginnings to now. There is nothing new, but it is eminently readable. Not a complete history, but a survey from our beginnings through to late eighties, a commentary on why we are what we are, and how we got that way.
