Touch of the Pygmalion theme here in the story of no-good Lorinda who is started off on the road to self-betterment by the minister's wife. She inherits a farm which furthers Lorinda's climb to knowledge of herself and other things, she trains for the stage when the real father of her child gets her off on a murder charge, and though she really loves the child's father, she feels bound to marry the man in her stage career. A revealing incident in England releases her from this loveless tie, and she eventually returns to the man who was at first base in the beginning. A story of missing en route eventually to ""learn what she wanted."" Woman's rental story, somewhat dated, rocking chair period.
