THE BRIDE REGRETS

The anticipation, rather than actuality, of murder when Mary, young, convent bred, and alone marries pompously protective Horace Gateways, who -- as Henry Gorby -- is known to have murdered many wives. With their stopover, on their wedding night, at Mrs. Keppner's tourist home. Horace does not find the isolation he needs nor a Mary as susceptible to his suggestions as he had hoped. And when the suspicion of his identity is aroused, Horace makes a last and hurried attempt to kill while Mary escapes her Bluebeard.... Niceties of portraiture and atmosphere give this a special character.
