KIRKUS REVIEW

The story of a herring gull, and, while not very unusual in the selection of adventures, it is just such a life as a herring gull would lead. Born on an island in the Bay of Fundy, blessed with an adventurous spirit, Top Gallant found out for himself why it was unwise to snatch fish out from under the fishermen's noses, why he must not snatch bait as it is cast, where the best fishing is to be found, what is to be gained by following ships, why cities are not good places to stay around. Everyone is fascinated by gulls. Here is the story which will make them seem more than ever intriguing.
