KIRKUS REVIEW

A lively, serviceable historical based on the semi-documented tale of 16-year-old Sybil Ludington, daughter of a Colonel who rode in the night, Revere fashion, to warn the residents of the approach of the British in 1777. Of course the Colonel was away often on his mysterious trips to supply Washington's army with men and materials. This time the Colonel left Sybil, his oldest of eight children, in charge of them as well as his beautiful horse, Star. Relief from distasteful household hores comes not only from exercising Star, but there is the arrival of handsome Jeffrey, the cousin of her neighbor, Chris, and the appearance of Seth Morse which oses other questions to answer. In all, a good brew with mystery and history in nice proportion.
