...and Carolyn and Ken again (see Star Island. 1953), as these two spend another industrious and instructive summer at Star Island, the Adirondack girls' camp where Carolyn suddenly found herself head counselor. Eager to get back after her freshman year at college, and to see Ken who will be helping at Star Island this summer, Carolyn nevertheless finds her hands full- with emotional problems as well as camp duties- when she returns. First, there is Rosemary, another counselor, who reacts badly to Carolyn's position as head. Then there is Carolyn who becomes childishly Jealous herself when her younger sister Marta arrives unexpectedly. Distressed about school grades and home problems, Marta makes an honest, successful attempt to adjust, though she won't discuss things with Carolyn who seems overbearing to her. But with quiet Ken to act as mediator, differences are straightened out. Overlong and episodic, but it makes its point.
