Average magazine fare- the interwoven chronicles of six girls and what they do with their first year out of college. Elements are vocational value-Betsy, Peggy Ann, Melissa, Alison, Leslie and Stepnanie have all graduated from an eastern school where they majored in home economics; first trials at living ""alone""- there's the apartment three of them rent in Preston a city near home; and men. Leslie for example, wants to hit the top in dietetics and begins as a lab assistant in Preston. Peggy Ann, mooning after an unfaithful beau of twelve years' standing, has her troubles as a flunky in the office of a lady newspaper columnist, but is dragged from the dumps by a heaven sent TV opportunity and a brand new fiance. Melissa the most sophisticated, has a handsome widower father with whom Alison fancies herself in love (til she meets the boy next door), goes to New York as a fashion designer and meets---- Ned. And so forth. Girl troubles with happy endings make this readable and sighable for aspirate teen agers.
