YANK IN FRANCE

This series about the dog who saved his patrol and earned his sergeant's stripes goes on adequately enough but with little inspiration. There's this time an engaging bit about the abandoned animals the patrol picks up in Normandy and takes to Paris, but the author has not made the most of the material. But any reasonably good book about a dog, particularly one with Diana Thorne illustrations, has sound merchandise value, and this series has proved reasonably popular. The age level is perhaps second to fourth grade.
