KIRKUS REVIEW

A sequel to White Captive of the sioux (1953, p. 152) continues the adventures of Dave Cameron taking up the story as he arrives in Independence in 1837 looking for his older brother John. He finds John in a fight with Vasquez a mysterious Mexican. The fight over, Vasquez says he had been testing John for his bravery and, in approval, hires the brothers to haul some secret freight for him to Santa Fe. The cargo turns out to be revolvers for a Mexican army preparing to invade Texas and the boys have their narrow scrapes before they are instrumental in apprehending Vasquez and his accomplices in the plot. Average.
