KIRKUS REVIEW

In what promises to be a very fertile fall season- there are some five odd books on pregnancy scheduled- this first title we are to report on emphasizes the emotional rather than the physical in what has been developed as the psychosomatic approach. With just a short discussion of the common disturbances and discomforts, hygiene, diet, clothing, and exercise, this concentrates on the wife's first reactions- and the husband's; dismisses superstitions and harmful rumors; prepares the way for proper parental attitudes; indicates what you will want to consider before- rather than after- the baby arrives; guides you through the phases of pregnancy, the admission in the hospital, labor and the delivery, the aftermath and the return home in a way which will best soothe husband and wife and avoid apprehension and misinformation. There's nothing to quarrel with here and this should have a reassuring, reader value.
