KIRKUS REVIEW

Another account of two filers shot down over enemy territory -- and of three months of weary, lonely, nearly defeated, hunted existence, fighting the way slowly back through Occupied France. The utter fatigue of mile upon mile of tramping, the pain of blistered, swollen feet, the desperate hope of contacting members of the Underground, the bitter disappointment as he found the blank faces of collaborators. They found aid now and again, and were hidden on an isolated Normandy farm when D-Day came. A story told more often in fiction than in fact, a story of courage, nobility, dignity -- by the author of I Wanted Wings.
