The author of several biographical and autobiographical books on spies reworks material, more or less familiar to her readers, into a story. The central characters are two Germans, one who becomes the conventional military figure, the other who grows in sympathy with the Belgian cause, and becomes a British spy in Belgium, to revenge the insult to the Belgian Kinswoman he loved. Nothing particularly new, but good reading.
