An excellent science book for brand new readers with a vocabulary list of 98 words introduced at the beginning. Subject matter and examples illustrating it have truly been related to the everyday lives of modern youngsters. Before children can grasp the mathematical concepts of weights and measures, they must be well grounded in the meaning of ""heavy"" and In presenting objects in the two categories, pointing out the dependency of weight on the ability of the lifter, relating the concept of size to weight and presenting how weight can be exactly determined, the authors inspire children to further investigation. (There are close parallels in handling as well as title -- though fresh subject matter -- compared with the original Let's Find Out series by the Schneiders) Bright instructive illustrations here by Ida Schelb are essential to this brief simple text.
