Four romances lined up against a wartime background, as nurse Elizabeth is forced to leave a wounded American pilot, Kerry, in England to return to her dying father in America. She learns Kerry has not died, but is stagnating mentally on his home acres, becoming a moral and financial problem to his two sisters and brother. Elizabeth goes to take care of his younger sister, injured in an accident, and helps to rehabilitate Kerry.
