A fast-moving story,- the setting Santa Barbara- with sound if modest values in the friendship of Christy, an American boy, and Ramon, son of an old, aristocratic Spanish family in California. A golden Palomino is the center of the boys' attention but their friendship is based on mutual respect and appreciation for each others talents and weaknesses. Christy loves horses; Ramon fears them. Ramon has skill in drawing, and is at home with nature. Together they solve a mystery concerning a colt and a deserted barn. Another good book for late summer reading.
