The Puggsteins were very proud of each other. It didn't matter that Uncle Pugg spent all his time sitting in a rocking chair reading the newspapers with which Aunt Puggy had covered the walls, or that Aunt Puggy was a bit old fashioned for 1907 and not rich enough to be allowed to adopt Bonny-Belle for good. Trouble comes to the Puggsteins when money dwindles and Bonny-Belle may not be able to stay with them. Aunt Puggy takes the little girl to the city and eventually their troubles are solved and the Puggsteins are reunited. Lots of gay dialogue and appealing characterizations brighten this familiar story of a sensitive, imaginative orphan.
