For this translation of a standard work by the noted German theologian we are indebted to Charles B. Hedrich and Frederick C. Grant. It is a straight-forward account of the life, teaching and work of Jesus and of the founding of the Christian Church, given in the light of the findings of Biblical criticism. It would make an excellent text-book, and a most helpful book to put into the hands of one who wishes to know how modern scholars interpret the New Testament. Professor dibelius writes clearly and states his argument succinctly. The translation is admirably done.
