DIARY OF A PENSIONNAIRE

I suppose there is no copyright on E. M. Delafield's claim to distinction in the manner of her ""provincial lady"" -- but I cannot control a slight resentment at a ""steal"" a such as this, in tempo, style and choice of content. The setting is different -- Paris and its environs, as they appear to an English girl left behind by her Polish husband, in the ""safe"" confines of a suburban pension. She gives, through her scrappy diary, a vivid impression of her fellow ""pensionnaires"" -- her humor seems, often, a bit forced the plot interest thin. Doesn't compare with the author's Enchanted Winter; nor even her If This Be Error.
