DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONALITY

Incorporating current psychological refinements, this is a cheerful yet realistic and genuinely helpful guide for the lonely person. There are questionnaires so that the reader can judge his own strengths and weaknesses (is he a sponger? a wet blanket? a bit of a heel?); there are suggestions on how to meet people not only in bulk but in a meaningful exchange--through personal and individual involvement in and contribution to various types of groups. The emphasis is on self-improvement--be a colorful (have a gimmick), be interested, be enthusiastic--and on self-activation. The meaning of friendship, the presence, absence or loss of love are considered. The main contribution is not to list groups which one may join, but to reveal the dynamics of relatedness and individual appeal. A contemporary approach to self-help.
