Clamped to the wheel, Arthur Whitlock travels fast, in fact bolts northward from London, picks up a girl, kills her, and turns himself in, with a taped confession. But did he kill her? Or was the victim Gwenda, his sexually attractive but not receptive wife, whose untoward behavior with his uncle had.....? This thriller, strident, hopped up rather than high-minded, does manage a fair amount of pace and pressure but it's strictly a hit and run affair.
