Based on the TV series of the same name, a potpourri of cheerfully didactic stories, skits, cartoon strips, and so on--all centering on kids with handicaps and making the point that they are not all that different. Five featured players (shown in photos) pop in and out, telling how they feel about having cerebral palsy or a learning problem or being deaf, blind, or a dwarf. Also scattered through are several short Encyclopedia Brown-like episodes starring a deaf supersleuth; a few chapters of a story about how a blind boy gets along at camp; and such diversions as a board game, a crossword puzzle, and exercises in experiencing blindness, deafness, or dyslexia. It's all tossed together in a moving-along, TV-inspired format that partially disguises the weakness of each separate piece.
