KIRKUS REVIEW

Fifteen more folk and fairy tales to companion the earlier volume Thirteen Danish Tales (1947), these again combine the earthy qualities of shrewdness, rewards, clever fellows, and wily bargains with magic tests, trials, enchantments, trolls and devils. The humorous characterizations, the rhythmic repetition of speech and action, the familiar themes are always acceptable to young imaginations, and the comically alive illustrations by Edgun, in two colors, go hand in hand with the text.
