DANIEL'S DINOSAURS

Daniel loves all kinds of dinosaurs; as shown in Baynton's disarming illustrations, he imagines them not just when he's reading or drawing pictures but wherever he goes: he sees his badminton-playing neighbors as plateosaurs, a person directing traffic as an allosaurus, and his nice teacher as a friendly diplodocus--except on those rare occasions when she becomes a tyrannosaurus. His mother finally cures him, after a fashion: a trip to the aquarium leaves Daniel seeing sharks. The story is predictable, but its cartoonish illustrations are full of imaginative details and gentle humor that will endear the story to small dinosaur-lovers. Glossary of six dinosaur names.
