SUMMER'S END

A romance -- a first novel -- and more intelligent in style and content than the average. There is in the story a double conflict -- a girl thinks herself condemned not to marry the man she loves because of inherited insanity -- and then finds that the man she thought was her father is not her father. In attempting to free her from the fears which haunt her, the real father succeeds in breaking down in himself, a bondage to an idea.
