KAREN LONG, MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Another in the semi-vocational, semi-romantic series of girls into medicine nursing, public health, etc, in the story of Karen Long who volunteers for a year's service in the laboratory at Johns Hopkins. Her roommates and their apartment; their friends among students and medicos; the marriage of one after Pearl Harbor; Karen's recognition of a beau, Jo, when he's off with a medical unit; her work with various experiments and her discovery of a new medium -- all seem, in final analysis, somewhat machine-made, with Karen pretty much of a Nice Nelly. For readability not up to Dorothy Deming, Caroline Chandler, etc. But it ""leads, kindly light"" as it should.
