LAD OF LIMA

This is the story of the only negro saint -- Martin de Porren of Peru. It is written for children, but the simple charm of the writing is so moving that Catholics of all ages will cherish the book. The author wrote the book at this time with the special idea of helping in the effort to dispel race prejudice, and succeeds admirably in proving that the color of the skin has no place in judging a man's soul. St. Martin is a lovable and beautiful character, and should appeal to many readers for his goodness and conception of love for his fellow man. Do not recommend this book to other than Catholic readers, however, unless you are sure of the reader's religious attitude, for there is much of the supernatural in St. Martin's life.
