A rhyming alphabet and counting book pairs numbers and letters from a to z and 1 to 26 in unique arrangements of design and subject matter. To give an example: ""A is for Artist/ Alone by the sea,/ Painting a picture of 1 lovely tree."" or ""V is for Vet/ Who cures kittens and puppies/ He likes to show us his 22 guppies."" These are catchy verses. Each of them describes a different occupation, each page runs the alphabet learned so far; and the large red and black pictures by the author (see her other work in The Juggler of Notre Dame- 1954, p. 265) are full of identification material.
