Young widow Phoebe Rawlins comes to Canada's uranium prospecting territory near Lake Superior seeking to escape the memories of an unfortunate and unhappy marriage. She meets a number of people, gets a job, and falls in love with Bruce Winslow, a brilliant young scientist, but distrusting his affiliation with a Toronto girl, dallies with suave Paul LeBlanc. Various incidents serve to clear up Bruce's relationship with the other girl, expose LeBlanc's illegal activities in the mines, and a dreadful night spent in the bush leads her back to a faith in God and man- and to the arms of Bruce.... It may be all about mines, but it's still just a surface story- for rent.
