KIRKUS REVIEW

The death and will of wealthy, strong Captain Butler, on the Michigan shore, brings Darrah Malone, the ""state boy"" who had once been allocated to the Butlers, back to the town he had left fifteen years before, under suspicion in the accidental death of one of Butler's sons. Only Mollie Ward is pleased at his return; the Butlers resent him now, because of the will, and because he threatens Michael Butler's courtship of Mollie. Only a second tragedy humbles the Captain's widow, and Darrah.... Ample story values, more than acceptably handled for women readers at the rental level.
