THE DOCTOR'S PARTY by Mary Frances Doner

THE DOCTOR'S PARTY

Doctor Mart has a Christmas party to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his practice with children he delivered years ago as guests. Each is facing a crisis in his life, and the party seems to be a failure as a means to set them on the right way, until a tragedy acts as catalytic agent -- and all are saved. This savors of synthetic morality, as each case is engineered to fit the pattern, and the sentimentality is too apparent. Not tops in gift books.
