The opening story may help some reluctant children over the introductory steps of learning the notes of the scale, the values of notes and the sharps and flats. But personally I haven't much enthusiasm for such sugar-coated methods of getting at facts. However -- there is a place for it. The balance of the stories are bedtime story length, some of them linked with miracles of nature, some fairy tales, most of them very simple stories for little children.
