DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES by Mary Geisler Phillips

DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES

Pub Date: Sept. 15th, 1960
Publisher: Crowell

By way of introducing the reader to the science of taxonomy--animal, fish, bird insect, and reptile classification--Mary Phillips presents a detailed study of the dragon-fly. At superficial consideration, this would seem a simple enough job, but the author goes far to show the complexities involved in studying the male and female in its various classes, orders, suborders, families, and species. A book which stimulates independent empirical research on the part of the young reader and which dramatically illustrates the complexity of living phenomena.
