GANZY REMEMBERS

A child visits her great-grandmother in a nursing home, where 'Ganzy' reminisces about her own childhood in rural Texas: riding her horse dangerously fast, finding a sparrow's nest in her father's overalls on the clothesline, or taking in travelers- - including Pancho Villa in disguise. Like Ganzy's memories, Sparks's watercolors are lightly sketched yet bring the long-ago events to life.
