KIRKUS REVIEW

Thriller but credible, this story of the reward the McNair brothers won for saving a girl on a runaway horse, on the plains near Winnipeg. Her father was vice president of the Canadian National, and gave the boys their hearts' desire, a ride to the Rockies on a freight train. There's lots of authentic information about railroading, a setting of dark and lonely depots and the moving train, as background for an eventful journey full of narrow escapes, as the two boys successfully track down the thieves involved in a Winnipeg robbery. Good yarn.
