A series started some years ago -- temporarily inactive so far as new titles were concerned -- now welcomes this excellent addition. (Check on the old titles -- Made in Russia should fill quite a niche in the lack of background material on that country). Mary Bonner has succeeded in weaving a great deal of Canada's story into her chapters about Canada's arts and crafts, for she has divided a good deal of her material into regional and national groups, and successive periods and what they brought to Canada, from the Indian crafts, now revived, to today's nationwide movement to supply rural districts with cottage industries. Personalities, historical and contemporary, in the creative as well as the practical arts, are given their due. The contributions made not only by the different nationals, but by the trappers, the lumberman, the voyagours, are all brought into the picture.
