YOUNG MAC OF FORT VANCOUVER

The period is 1832 -- the setting, Fort Vancouver, state of Washington. A Scotch-Indian boy is sent by his Indian mother to take up his heritage in the outside world, and to get his training at the fort. He is homesick for the wilds, he has no ambition beyond being a voyageur. But little by little he conquers his fears of the world and finds that it holds something for him. Lots of incident and a well integrated plot, against an authentic historical and factual background of a period when British, Russian and Indian influences crossed staves with American.
