Synthetic, and rather spare, mystery story for youngsters. When Lucy, from Maine, is unable to locate her host and hostess, she takes refuge in a haunted house in company with Andrew, a boy fishing off the dock there, and Miss Montgomery, an artist. The house, deserted after the disappearance of the owners' child, a boy of five, is famous for its apparitions, disappearances, etc. Andrew turns out to be the missing child, now grown up and heir to the lonely old house, and the strange happenings are accounted for when it proves to have been a smugglers' hideout, -- and they catch the culprits. Rather poorly.
