BEES IN THE GARDEN AND HONEY IN THE LARDER by Mary Louise Coleman

BEES IN THE GARDEN AND HONEY IN THE LARDER

By

Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

This is the most unexpectedly absorbing book! I couldn't put it down and the author makes bee-keeping sound as alluring as puppy rearing. Rank amateur though she may have been she certainly possessed bee sense, bee fingers or whatever in the apiarist's language corresponds to green fingers or a growin' hand. Because she was so successful and her book so sensible and practical there will be sore temptation to go in for bees on the part of many readers with a country place. Besides her story of her bees, information on the starting, continuing, gathering, extracting, heating and storing of the honey there are scores of recipes for foods, creams, cosmetics, polishes, etc. to be made from beeswax and honey. sounds as though bees in her bonnet had been most profitable.
