A very pleasant bit of foolery, laid in Langladure in medieval times, this has a folk-tale quality and humor that adds to its charm. For Dame Amelie's idea of converting an old convent into a ""Saints' Rest, a Home Away From Home For Tired Saints"" has a welcome reception in Paradise and the guests soon arrive. They prove that saints on earth can be a trial; the villagers suffer with too much weather and find too many miracles dwindle into ludicrous magic; the town is in danger of being invaded; an enterprising devil provides plenty of obstacles to trip up the saints' good intentions. It is up to the young peasant girl, Bichette to keep them in order, to straighten out their mistakes and correct their failures. It is Bichette who provides a necessary miracle to send them home in good order. A specialty whose amiable satire, gentle but gay religion, offers a real treat for those looking for something unusual.
