A young English bride of a French official posted to Equatorial Africa recalls- 18 years later- her reactions to living in Brazzaville, West Africa, and her discovery of the dim and ancient world of the fetish, of ritual murder, of cannibalism. Her own rich background and traditions had prepared her in no way for what she had found, but she managed to develop a deep interest beyond the- to her- boring bounds of protocol. Her perceptive record is exceptionally interesting today.
