YOUNG HEROES OF THE WAR

This is different. It is not a ""repeat"" on previous books retelling the heroin stories of young men in the armed forces. Actually, only one story deals with a boy in the service; the rest are children of all warring nations and captive nations who are making their contribution, either as guerillas or partisans, or in less spectacular exploits which show the stuff of which they are made. Courage, fortitude endurance, ingenuity, hardihood -- these are not solely attributes of maturity. Two boys of the Dutch Indias; a girl of Yugoslavia; a group of Russian youngsters; a Belgian lad working with the underground; a Chinese child of six who carried his baby sister to ty; a Norwegian boy who refused to be denied the right to fight for his country; an English boy who carried on through the worst of the Blitz and fire, in spite of having five bicycles virtually shot from under him -- of such substance are ""young heroes of the war"" created.
