KIRKUS REVIEW

Brief sketches of fifty saints' lives-- who they were, what they did, why they were sainted-- are arranged chronologically, beginning with Ann, the grandmother of Jesus, and ending with Casimir, a Polish prince of the fifteenth century. The saints are lavishly depicted in numerous illustrations (some in full color, some black and white) by Alex Ross. Because the book is exclusively Catholic in its religious direction and without other virtues to attract those of other faiths, it will find an audience chiefly in Catholic Sunday schools and school libraries.
