MARATHON AND STEVE

From the author of Mrs. Pig Gets Cross and other picture books notable for their wit and suspense, a cautionary tale about a very contemporary situation. Marathon, a dog, is a born couch-potato; it's his master, Steve, who likes running--and who assumes that Marathon loves it too. But when Steve suffers a running injury, the doctor is firm: no more running; try swimming. Steve is all sympathy for Marathon's loss of his daily exercise; Marathon, on the other hand, is relieved not to have to exert himself, and perfectly content to stay home, watch TV, and take an occasional trip to the beach in summer. No surprises here, but anyone who has ever been forced to share someone else's overzealous enthusiasm should be amused.
