WARTIME JOBS FOR GIRLS

Here's a book specifically written for High School girls (and even younger) which might well be put on adult vocational shelves. There is one remarkable feature, neglected in most vocational books, and that is the amount of space, the emphasis and the dignity given to domestic service, so called, plus its steps-up-the-ladder to nursing, restaurant work, etc. Cheers to author and editor, for doing this; it is a job that needed to be done. Otherwise, the content is fairly in the groove, though keyed to wartime openings: -- land army, public service, personal service, business and industry, war production and Uncle Sam's opportunities. An important addition to current reference shelves, in days when boys and girls of school age are asking where they can fit in. It is to be regretted that an index is lacking. A full Table of Contents partially makes up for the omission.
