KIRKUS REVIEW

The title story (run in four parts in the SEP), three short and one long short demonstrate MRR's continued hold on the well bred mystery. A wife, fearing her husband and accused of his murder, is proved innocent by the ceaseless efforts of a tax lawyer; a woman suicides after an attempt on her crippled step sister's life; an old scandal is the club a young lawyer uses to make a town accept an outcast; the daughter of a detective insists on proving her father-in-law's death is murder; a ne'er-do-well's death in Florida leads to an accusation of murder. Good grooming and good going.
